The plant in the pictures is *wild chicory* 🌿*Its common names:*1. *Wild Chicory* = Scientific name: Cichorium intybus2. *Serious Chicory* or *Chicoria* – This is the common name in Morocco3. *Teflaf/Tidaf* in the Moroccan Amazigh dialect- *Leaves*: Sharp-edged and jagged, growing directly from the ground next to the wall, as shown in the first picture.- *Root*: A thick, brown taproot, which is washed and boiled, as shown in the two pictures below.People boil the roots after roasting and use the resulting infusion as a coffee substitute, especially in the past. The green leaves are eaten in salads.Note: It closely resembles *garden chicory* and *borage*. Be 100% sure before using it if you intend to drink it.
