Monitoring ear infections

The image “78144.jpg” promotes misleading medical information and the false claim that instilling liquid will restore your hearing. This image, along with the accompanying random recipes circulating online, poses a risk to ear health.Risks of using these recipes:* Infections and inflammations: Instilling substances like honey, unsterilized oils, or any unknown mixtures into your ear creates a breeding ground for bacteria and fungi.* Damage to the eardrum: If there is a small perforation in the eardrum (which you may not be aware of), the liquid can enter the middle ear and cause serious infections and permanent hearing damage.* Worsening ear blockage: These sticky substances attract dust and cause wax (keratin) to accumulate and further block the ear canal. What is safe and how should you act? * The only liquids that should be instilled into the ear are medical ear drops prescribed by a doctor, or medicated olive oil ear drops (available at pharmacies) used exclusively to soften hardened earwax so that it is easier for the doctor to remove it.* If you experience hearing loss or cloudiness in your ears, the best thing to do is to see an ear, nose, and throat (ENT) specialist. The doctor will examine your ears with a special device and determine whether the problem is simply accumulated earwax that needs to be removed, an infection, or another issue, and will give you the correct and safe treatment.
